Q: How do we determine the value of the collection?
A: We typically pay about 50% of what we will sell it for in our store. Engines that are in need of cleaning/service are purchased at a lower price so we can do the in-house clean-up/service to get them in saleable condition. We do not use price guides in determining value. We do NOT use eBay “asking” prices to determine price, as there are many “dreamers” out there that aren’t in reality.
Q: How do we buy a collection?
A: Our brick & mortar retail store in Westminster, is open 6 days a week. If you live in the Los Angeles/Orange County area, we aren’t more than an hour drive. Smaller collections can be brought to our store, and we will make an on-the-spot offer. Calling the shop before bringing in your collection is highly suggested to make sure one of our buyers are here. If you have a medium or large collection and live on the West Coast, we will make arrangements to come to you in our cargo van. No collection is too big, and we have acquired collections valued at $200k and up.
Q. What manufacturers do you buy and sell?
A. We buy all manufactures of N and HO trains. Just a few examples: Athearn, Bachmann, Atlas, Rapido, Atlas, Kato, MTH, Bowser, Intermountain, Proto2000, etc. All Brass Manufactures: Overland Models, Samhongsa, Sunset Models, Key Model Imports, Oriental Limited, Precision Scale Models, The Coach Yard, Katsumi Balboa, etc. We also buy model trains building kits like Walthers Cornerstone, Design Preservation Models, Woodland Scenics, etc.
